Condemnations in Bhatkal

Meanwhile, at a press conference in Bhatkal, Uttara Kannada, on Thursday, the century-old Muslim organisation Majlise Islah-o-Tanzeem condemned the terror attack.

It called the attack a failure of the Central government and the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure basic security in a sensitive region like Kashmir.

Abdul Raqeeb M.J. Nadvi, general secretary of Majlise Islah-o-Tanzeem, said such attacks reflect the dangerous mindset of extremists and urged citizens across communities to unite against terrorism. Tanzeem criticised attempts to give the tragedy a communal spin.

It sought strict action against the attackers and immediate support for victims’ families. Tanzeem urged leaders to promote unity and refrain from rhetoric that fuels polarisation.

In a separate press conference in Bhatkal, Venkatesh Naik, Bhatkal Block Congress president, condemned the attack as a grave act of terror and lamented the absence of adequate security arrangements in the region. Naik emphasised that the attack took place not near an international border, but in the heart of Indian territory, making the lapse in security all the more alarming.
