Padma Shri Awardee Harekal Hajabba Gets EC Notice Over Name Mismatch in SIR

Mangaluru, Sep 7, 2026: Padma Shri awardee Harekal Hajabba has received a notice from the Election Commission in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls following a mismatch in his name.

Hajabba’s name was recorded as “Hajabba” in the 2002 electoral roll, while his current documents, including his ration card, Aadhaar card, passport and voter ID, carry the name “Harekal Hajabba.”

The notice was reportedly issued during the SIR process due to the discrepancy in his name.

Hajabba said an Anganwadi worker served the notice at his residence on Monday morning and asked him to appear before the gram panchayat on Friday, September 11, with the relevant documents.

“I will go to the gram panchayat on that day and submit the documents. I am confident that the issue will be resolved thereafter,” he said.
