PG centre at Canara First Grade College inaugurated

Mangalore, July 16, 2012: P. S. Yadapadithaya, registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University, inaugurated the post graduate centre of Canara First Grade College organised by Canara High School Association at TV Raman Pai Convention Centre on July 16, Monday. 


In his address, he spoke of the differences of under graduate colleges and post graduate colleges and said that the demand for courses such as B.Com. and M.Com. is high. The Mangalore University has increased the number of seats for these courses for this reason, he added.

Lamenting on the lack of exchange of thought in classrooms, he said that class rooms were earlier teacher-centric, but today they are learner-centric thanks to the development in information communication technology. 


Pangal Chandrakanth Nayak, retired IAS officer, said on the occasion that PG courses must help students develop problem-solving skills. 


In his presidential address, S. S. Kamath, president of the association, said that Canara College initially had only 500 wards, but now it has over 1,400 students doing their graduation. 


M. Ranganath Bhat, honorary secretary of the association, and many others were present on the occasion.
