Mangaluru, Nov 9, 2025: The city came alive on Sunday morning as more than 6,000 runners from across India and abroad participated in the fourth edition of the Niveus Mangalore Marathon, organised by the Mangalore Runners Club (MRC). The event, which began at Mangala Stadium, took participants along the scenic coastal route towards Tannirbhavi Beach, offering a blend of endurance, energy and festive spirit.
Runners from over 20 Indian states and countries including Australia, Japan, Denmark and Nigeria took part, reinforcing Mangaluru’s growing status as a major destination for marathon enthusiasts.

The marathon featured six race categories — Full Marathon (42.195 km), 20 Miler (32 km), Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10K Run, 5K Run and 2K ‘Gammath Run’ — attracting both elite athletes and amateur runners.
The Full Marathon was flagged off at 4:15 a.m. by Johnson Paul Moyalan (76), a veteran runner from Kochi who has completed three full marathons in Mangaluru, along with Shashir Shetty, Chief Growth Officer, Niveus Solutions.
Dignitaries present included Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Suyog Shetty, CEO of Niveus Solutions. KMC Hospital provided medical assistance, Mangaluru City Police ensured smooth traffic management, and the Mangaluru City Corporation handled civic amenities.
At the finish arena in Mangala Stadium, participants were greeted with a finisher medal inspired by the traditional Pili Nalike (Tiger Dance). Facilities such as physiotherapy and cold plunge recovery zones, photo booths, ice cream counters and breakfast stalls added to the celebratory atmosphere.
The event also supported a social cause, partnering with the Riya Foundation as the official charity partner to aid initiatives for differently-abled individuals.
In the competitive categories, Nazeem of Coonoor emerged as the Men’s Champion in the Full Marathon Open Category, while Shreya M from Sullia won the Women’s Champion title.
