Over 1,500 workers stranded in Bengaluru arrive hometown in coastal districts

Mangaluru, May 06, 2020:  Over 1,500 workers of the coastal districts who had remained stranded in Bengaluru due to lockdown have arrived in their hometowns in the district through KSRTC buses during the past three days. All of them have been instructed to strictly remain in home quarantine for the next 14 days. As many as 70 buses were pressed into service to get these workers back. A total of 25 buses ferrying the labourers arrived in Mangaluru depot, while  nine buses arrived in Udupi.  As many as 24 buses reached Kundapur and 12 buses reached Madikeri.



All the labourers were subject to screening and steps were taken to maintain social distancing. The authorities have stamped seal in their hands and have obtained their name, address, mobile number and other details.

The authorities have also installed Quarantine Watch App on their mobile phone which operates through GPS. In case they violate home quarantine rules, then the App would alert  the Police  authorities.
