Oscar Fernandes and dance guru Dharmesh visit Bhagini Samaj

Mangalore,  Dec 4, 2011: Oscar Fernandes, the Rajya Sabha MP, visited Bhagini Samaj, a home for poor and orphaned children in Mangalore, yesterday in the company of Dharmesh Sir, a noted choreographer and dance guru from Mumbai. 


Dharmesh, who had come to Mangalore to participate in a dance event, expressed interest in interacting with the children. Around 34 children greeted Mr. Oscar Fernandes and Mr. Dharmesh when they arrived at the ashram.

Later, interacting with reporters, Mr. Fernandes said that he will donate funds from the MP’s fund to the poor children as the ashram is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2012. He said that the ashram has already spent Rs. 10 lakh on various repairs. 


He also said that his party will play an active role in the development of this ashram on the occasion of its 75th anniversary.
Mr. Fernandes also distributed oranges and apples among the children. 


Speaking on the occasion, Dharmesh Sir said that he feels a special bond with the children and that he would like to open an ashram for poor children one he has enough money. He said that his visit to the ashram was unplanned and that, if he had made plans in advance, he would have brought some gifts for the kids. 


Pushpalatha, the warden, said that she was happy about the visit. She also spoke about the ashram’s need for funds to do some urgent repairs and celebrate its 75th anniversary.
