Mangalore, June 7: Sabrina Nasrin Huq, a citizen of Bangladesh and the only woman to survive the terrible Mangalore plane crash of May 22, was discharged from A J Hospital on June 7, Monday.
Dr. Prashanth Marla, the medical director of A J Hospital and Research Centre said on the occasion that Sabrina survived the plane crash miraculously with the grace of God, adding that the medical staff of AJ Hospital has given her the best possible treatment. The doctor also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the 158 plane crash victims.
A. J. Shetty, the managing director and president of Laxmi Memorial Trust, presented a bouquet to Sabrina and wished her health and success. He told reporters that Umer Farooq, another plane crash survivor, is currently being treated at A J Hospital and will be discharged shortly.
Dean of A J Institute of Medical Sciences Dr. Ramesh Pai, Vice President of Laxmi Memorial Trust Dr. Prashanth Shetty, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sudarshan Bhandary, and plastic surgeon Dr. Dinesh Kadam were also present during the occasion. Prasad Rane, an Air India representative, was also present on the occasion.
Sabrina Nasrin Huq is among the 8 survivors of the Mangalore plane crash. An intern at KMC Manipal, Sabrina said that she now knows what it is like to be a patient, so she can be a better doctor. Expressing her gratefulness to the staff and management of A J Hospital, she said that she will always remain grateful to God and to those who rescued her. She especially thanked an unknown 18-year-old boy who she said was chiefly responsible for her survival.
