She told reporters that undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) has a number of good athletes, who are unable to build a career because of the absence of facilities in Mangalore. Compared to the athletes of Karnataka, the athletes of other states are getting excellent facilities. She further voiced her opinion that Indian athletes do not perform as well as foreign athletes in international sports events because proper training camps are not held in India. She said that foreign athletes perform better because they make long-term preparations and have better facilities.

Sahana’s husband Nagaraj and daughter Pavana were present in the press meet.
