Mangalore, July 28, 2011:An old building that was used for storing purposes by reputed stores in Mangalore was completely burned down at 1:00 a.m. on July 28 Thursday.
The Bunder police and the fire-fighting personnel rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control. They had to spend nearly 4 hours before the flames began dying down. The building, which contained the go downs of Liberty, wholesale dealers in stationary, general items, and cosmetics, Panchanlingeshwara Tyres, and many other stores was reduced to ashes. The goods destroyed in the fire are estimated to be worth lakhs.
The fire is believed to have been caused by short circuit; however the fire is now being investigated. Since it is an old building, the police will have a tough time investigating the case.
