Officials act tough against illegal sand mining in Nandavar

Bantwal, April 6, 2015 : A joint operation by revenue and police  officials at an illegal sand mining area at Nandavara in Sajipamunnur village has put an end to the unauthorised activity. As many as nine boats were also seized by the authorities.Even the labourers who were living in sheds in the vicinity have been shifted from the place.

Nearly 15 lorries transporting sand unauthorisedly were also seized and a penalty slapped by the authorities.

It may be noted here that the locals have been  vehemently demanding action against the illegal sand mining activities in the region  and had even written to the Panchayat  warning that they would resort to severe protest if no action followed.
