No plan to close inter-state borders: C N Ashwath Narayan

Bengaluru, Jan 06, 2022: Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan on Wednesday said there is no proposal before the State government to seal the border anywhere in the State, including Maharashtra. This comes even as Karnataka on Wednesday reported 4,246 new cases of Covid-19. Out of the new cases, 3,605 were reported in Bengaluru. The positivity rate in the state stands at 3.33 per cent.

The Karnataka government has also announced that it will impose a weekend curfew and extend the night curfew for two weeks in the state in view of the alarming rise in the number of Covid-19 cases. This comes as the state registered another big spike for the fourth consecutive day with 2,479 infections and four deaths recorded on Tuesday. This takes the cumulative infections and fatalities to 30,13,326 and 38,355 respectively, the health department said.
