Padubidri, Nov 18, 2013 : Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandes has said that the proposed bypass project at Padubidri as part of the Suratkal-Kundapur four-laning works has been dropped and the project would be undertaken without causing inconvenience to locals.
Speaking to reporters after laying the foundation stone for the Rajeev Bhavan building to be constructed at Kaup at a cost of Rs 30 lakhs on November 17, Sunday, he said it was the previous BJP government which had recommended a bypass project at Padubidri.
He further added that the present Congress government has decided to go ahead with the highway expansion without a bypass.
To a question on the proposed underpass at Katapady and Kaup, Oscar said the NH Authority has been asked to take up the works in a scientific way.
District in-charge Minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Congress leader MA Gafur, Block President Naveenchandra J Shetty and other Congress leaders were present.
