Mangaluru, Jan 26, 2022: The Electoral Literacy Club of the Nitte (Deemed to be University) observed National Voter’s Day here on Tuesday. An online program was conducted by the club.

Prof.M.S.Moodithaya, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) delivered opening remarks. ‘India is the largest democracy in the world. Unless the youth does not participate in the process of voting, the spirit of democracy is not fulfilled. Hence, awareness among youngsters to participate in the democratic process is most needed’ he opined.

‘In a democratic setup, the rights as well as the obligations of the citizens must be discussed. The citizens must self evaluate their thoughts and deeds in order to make this country a best place to live’ he added.

‘Programs such as National Voter’s Day will boost the spirit of democracy. This is a commendable effort by the organizers’ he acclaimed.

Suma N.S., Nodal Officer, Electoral Club of Nitte (Deemed to be University) welcomed the guests. Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Director, Curriculum Development, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Sadhana Deshmukh, Director, Staff Development Center, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof.Sayi Geetha, Head of the Department of Humanities  and students of Nitte Speech of Hearing, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology  were present in the program.

Ms.Shelette D Almeida, Assistant Professor, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy was the Master of the Ceremony. Gana Pilinja, 3rd-year BPT student of Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy presented the prayer.
