
Mangalore, Sep 15, 2013: Dr K Mohandas, Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Health Sciences, has said that the nation can achieve good progress in medical research field provided young medicos evince interest in research along with pursuing their profession.
He was delivering the Convocation Address at the third Convocation of Nitte University held at the KS Hegde Auditorium at Derlakatte on September 14, Saturday. Dr Mohandas further said doctors have the onerous responsibility of not only safeguarding the health of the people but also that of the society. He also urged universities to encourage students to take up research.
N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, who awarded degrees to the medical graduates said it is hard work that counts more than intelligence. He also exhorted the young medical graduates to consider outstanding personalities in the medical field as their role models and try to excel in the field.
A total of 375 graduates in various medical disciplines received their degrees on the occasion.
Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Dean of Nitte University, Dr Alka Kulkarni, Registrar (Evaluation), Dr HV Sudhaker Nayak, Registrar, Rajashekhar, Staff Development Programme Director and others were present.
