
Mangaluru, June 6, 2026: Nitte University has earned international recognition after being featured in Yamagata Shimbun, a leading regional newspaper in Japan, for its role in developing highly skilled talent and supporting workforce requirements in the country through academic and industry collaborations.
In its May 31, 2026 edition, the newspaper highlighted the partnership between Yamagata Prefecture and Nitte University, which has helped connect talented Indian graduates with employment opportunities in Japan. The report noted that as Japanese industries continue to face workforce shortages, Indian engineering graduates are increasingly being valued for their technical expertise, adaptability and professional commitment.
According to the report, Nitte University has been facilitating placements with Japanese companies since 2020. More than 300 graduates from the university have secured jobs in Japan so far, reflecting the growing confidence of Japanese employers in the quality of talent produced by the institution.
The article stated that Yamagata Prefecture established a cooperative relationship with Nitte University to recruit highly skilled graduates, particularly in engineering and technology-related sectors. Through this initiative, several companies in the prefecture have successfully hired Nitte graduates, contributing to a steady rise in the number of Indian professionals working in the region.
The feature also highlighted the experiences of Nitte alumni employed in Japan. Among them is Adesh Chandrashekar (22), who works in product quality management and quality assurance at the Yonezawa Factory of Sanyo Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Yamagata Prefecture. Adesh said his aspiration to work in Japan was inspired by the country’s global reputation for manufacturing excellence.
Another alumnus featured in the report, Chetan Poojari (24), also employed at the company, spoke about the supportive workplace environment and strong team culture that motivate him to excel. He expressed interest in taking on greater responsibilities in the future, including participation in new material inspections and product development activities.
The newspaper further reported that the management of Sanyo Machinery Manufacturing Co. has been highly impressed by the calibre of Nitte graduates. Company President Kotaro Kurosaka stated that the students recommended by the university are carefully selected and possess the qualities required to succeed in the workplace. He also indicated that the company plans to recruit more graduates from Nitte University in the coming months.
With nearly 30,000 students enrolled across engineering, medical and allied disciplines, Nitte University continues to strengthen its global footprint through academic excellence, industry partnerships and international career opportunities.
The collaboration highlighted in the newspaper has been supported by Dr. Harikrishna Bhat, Director (International Collaborations) at Nitte University, who has played a key role in guiding students towards careers in Japan, and Ms. Yasuko Sato, who has contributed to recruitment support and Japanese language learning initiatives.
