Nine Booked in Uppinangady Moral Policing Case

Uppinangady, Aug. 16, 2026: A suspected moral policing incident reported at Kolpe in Kadaba taluk on August 12 has come to light, with Uppinangady police registering a case against nine persons for allegedly assaulting and threatening an 18-year-old woman and others.

The accused have been identified as Jabir, Siddiq, Unais, Ramshik, Samsuddin, Jaffer, Ashith, Ashraf and Ashraf Kolpe.


Uppinangady Moral Policing Case



According to the complaint filed by Faiza, a resident of Kolpe, a group of five to six persons allegedly stopped a car and a scooter near Kolpe around 11 p.m. while she and others were returning from Melkar.

Faiza alleged that Jabir abused her when she questioned the group, while Siddiq allegedly slapped her and threatened to kill her. When Jamal intervened, Siddiq, Unais and Ramshik allegedly assaulted him.

The complaint further states that Ramshik, Samsuddin, Jaffer and Jabir allegedly pushed Faiza, causing a scooter to fall on her leg. Zahir was allegedly assaulted when he tried to lift the scooter.

Faiza also alleged that Ashith and Achuru alias Ashraf assaulted her, causing her to lose consciousness. Her younger sister, who came to her aid, was allegedly slapped and pushed by Siddiq, while Ashraf Kolpe allegedly assaulted her on the head.

Faiza and her sister were admitted to Puttur Government Hospital. Uppinangady police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
