Newly wed woman commits suicide in Dubai

Puttur, Dec 6, 2011 :A newly wed, 25-year-old woman committed suicide in Dubai on Dec 4 Sunday. The deceased is Smitha Rai, the daughter of N. K. Narayan Rai of Kadaba, the former member of the DK Zilla Parishad.

According to the family, the body will be brought to Madikeri, her mother’s native place, for the final rites.

Smitha was married to Navin of Parpunja on Oct 16 this year, and after a few days, Smitha and her husband left for Dubai.

Reportedly, Navin had gone out on Sunday afternoon for some work, and when he returned at 7:00 p.m., he saw that Smitha, who was alone at home, had hanged herself. She had left behind a suicide note stating that she had killed herself because she had been unable to marry a boy she loved when she was a college student in Ujire.
