New train services to touch Mangalore City

Mangalore, July 1, 2011:The Mumbai to Mangalore Express Train (No. 12133/12134) triweekly will become a daily train with effect from July 2.

 

The railways have issued a press release, according to which, the triweekly Yashwanthpur to Mangalore Central (No. 16515/16516) train, will be extended to Karwar, but will not arrive into the central railway station after the extension has been brought into effect.

One of the new trains that will chug into Mangalore are the Mangalore Central to Santragachi (Howrah) Vivek Superfast Weekly Express (22852/22851), which will pass through Coimbatore, Tirupathi, and Katpady. It will leave Mangalore Central at 22:45 on Saturdays and reach Santragachi at 11:50 on Mondays. It will leave Santragachi at 16:05 on Thursdays and will reach Mangalore on Saturdays at 9:45 a.m. The date on which the train will commence services is yet to be announced.

The Kochuveli-Bhavanagar Weekly Express (19259/19260) will leave Kochuveli on Thursdays at 15.15 and reach Bhavanagar at 13:00 on Saturdays. It will leave Bhavanagar at 5.25 on Sundays and reach Kochuveli through Mangalore Junction at 3.10. The train will halt at Mangalore Junction, Udupi, Kumta, and Karwar. The date of commencement of this service has not yet been announced.

The Kochuveli-Porbandar Weekly Express Train (19261/19262) will chug through Alappuzha and Shoarnur Junction from July 1. It will leave Kochuveli at 10.40 on Sundays and reaches Porbandar at 10.30 on Tuesdays. It will leave Porbandar at 18.20 on Thursdays and reaches Kochuveli at 15.30 on Saturdays. This train will stop at Mangalore Junction, Kasargod, Udupi, and Karwar.

The Mangalore Central – Palakkad (22609/22610) Superfast Train service will commence in July, but the department has not yet announced when. The train will leave Mangalore Central station at 12:00 and reach Palakkad at 18.15. It will leave Palakkad at 7.25 and reach the city at 13.40. The train will halt at Kasargod, Kanhangad, Payyannur, Kannur, Talassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur and Ottapalam.
