Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2025: With the aim of supporting individuals battling chronic illnesses such as neurological disorders, mental health conditions, Alzheimer’s, paralysis, and cancer, the Navachetana Care Centre is launching a new long-term care unit at Daigoli in Kasaragod. The 18-bed specialized care facility will be inaugurated on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2 PM at the Nayi Niketan Seva Ashram, announced Dr. Shyam Bhatt, Founder of Navachetana Care Centre and Chairman of Bhatt Biotech, during a press conference.

He noted that the increasing pace of life, caregiving challenges within families, and the lack of medical facilities at home have made long-term disease management difficult. “In such circumstances, people need a place that offers home-like care but with 24x7 medical supervision. Understanding this need, we are establishing the Navachetana Care Centre in Daigoli,” he said.

The centre will provide round-the-clock medical monitoring, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, personal care, and psychological and emotional support, among other services.

Sharing statistics, Dr. Bhatt said that in India, 7.4% of people above 60 suffer from mental health issues, there are 3.69 million Alzheimer’s patients, and 14.6 lakh cancer patients. “Such serious health conditions should not become a burden on families. Our goal is to offer easy access to quality long-term care,” he added.

The project is a joint initiative of Navachetana Care Centre and Sri Sai Niketan Seva Ashram, Daigoli. Dr. Udaykumar Nooji and Dr. Sharada Udaykumar, trustees of Sai Niketan, are well known in the state for their service to the destitute, underprivileged, and mentally ill. Dr. Shyam Bhatt appreciated their record of rehabilitating hundreds of orphans and mentally ill individuals and helping them return to their hometowns.

He also shared his journey of contributing significantly to HIV research in the United States and later founding Bhatt Biotech with the aim of providing affordable diagnostic tools to economically weaker sections in India. He recalled that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bhatt Biotech had supplied essential medical equipment to Dakshina Kannada district free of cost.

Shyam Bhatt’s wife Sharada Bhatt, CEO Pavan Kumar, Prakash Ilantila, and others were present.
