Mangaluru, Dec 03, 2022: City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has issued guidelines to the general public, hotels, restaurants, clubs, restaurants and other organisations with regard to New Year celebrations in order to maintain law and order.
The Commissioner said all hotels, restaurants, clubs and organisations must apply to the city Police Commissioner’s office by 5 pm on December 15 seeking permission. Anyone failing to secure permission will face action, the Commissioner said.
The loudspeakers can be used at the venue by 10 pm.
In the event hotels and restaurants intend to supply liquor to customers well beyond the prescribed time, then they will have to seek permission through a written application. Even if permission is received liquor supply must end by 11 pm, the Commissioner said.
Smoking and drinking in public places on the pretext of New Year celebrations, is banned and no one should behave indecently on the pretext of celebrations. Those using loudspeakers should have the box type loudspeaker at low volume and all types of obscene dance is prohibited. Action squads have been formed to prevent any attempt to misbehave with women on the pretext of celebrations, the Commissioner stated.
Traffic police too have formed a special team to prevent over speeding, wheeling and such other stunts in two-wheelers. Also any indecent behaviour and consumption of liquor is banned in beaches, the Commissioner said.
