Nepalese minor girl commits suicide in Thokkottu rented house

Mangaluru, June 9, 2024: A 16-year-old Nepalese girl, Rabeena B K,  hanged herself in a rented house at Chembugudde near to Thokkottu on Saturday, June 8.

Rabeena was the daughter of Ram Sharan, who runs a fast food canteen near Vrindavan Hotel in Thokkottu. The family lived in a rented house owned by Rita D’Souza. Rabeena, the second of four children, was studying in the eighth grade in Nepal but had been brought to Mangaluru by her father to continue her education. She often quarreled with her parents, wanting to return to Nepal for her studies.

On Saturday afternoon, while Rabeena’s mother, Rameela, was out picking up her younger children from school, she returned to find Rabeena hanging in the bathroom. The Ullal police conducted the post-mortem and returned the body to the family.
