Neliyadi: PU student dies as car rams into parked gas tanker

Puttur, Oct 22, 2026: A 16-year-old Pre-University (PU) college student died after the car he was travelling in rammed into a stationary gas tanker near Karbasank in Neliyadi on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru National Highway 75 in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Anvin Jojo George, son of Jojo T. George, owner of Flavours Hotel in Neliyadi. He was a first-year PU student at St Philomena College in Puttur.

The accident occurred at around 1 am when the car collided with a gas tanker parked along the highway near Karbasank. The impact was severe, and Anvin died on the spot.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police from the Neliyadi outpost rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection.

The body was shifted to the government hospital in Puttur. Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
