
Mangalore, Sep 24, 2013: The Department of Mining Engineering will be holding a two-day national seminar on ‘Explosives and Blasting Techniques for Mining, Quarrying and Infrastructure Industry’ at the Seminar Hall of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) on September 26 and 27.

Informing this to reporters, Prof. VR Sastry, the Conference Chairman said the seminar aims at holding discussions on new ideas in the development of explosives and blasting techniques.
Gopal Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Central Coalfields Limited and AK Debnath, Chairman and Managing Director of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited will be the chief guests. NK Nanda, Technical Director of NMDC Limited and Ramesh Kumar, Operations Director of The Singareni Collieries Co Ltd will also be present. Prof. Swapan Bhattacharya, Director of NITK-Suratkal will preside over the function.
The valedictory function will be attended by YS Reddy, Senior Vice President of Fomento Resources Pvt Ltd.
Experts in the field of mining and quarrying will make 32 presentations during the two day seminar.
