Namma Nadu cameraman thrashed at Kambala

Mangalore, Apr 1, 2012: A cameraman was thrashed at a kambala in Talapady on March 31 Saturday for allegedly causing the defeat of a certain participants at around 10:30 p.m. 


The victim is Shashidhar Poyyathabail, a cameraman for the local channel Namma Nadu, who was covering the Kambala. When he was trying to take a picture of a pair of buffaloes, a flash terrified the buffaloes, which turned back and fled in the opposite direction.

Manoj Jeppinamogaru, the owner of the buffalo pair, was furious, claimed that the flash came from Shashidhar’s camera, and thrashed him for allegedly causing the defeat. 


Eyewitnesses, however, state that the video camera had no flash and that the flash came from some other camera. A few other cameramen were also taking videos and photos. 


Shashidhar is currently taking treatment in Nethaji Hospital. His video camera worth Rs. 1.5 lakh has also been destroyed. 


The Ullal police arrested Manoj at 1:30 a.m. and registered a case against him.
