Mangalore, Nov 3, 2012: Namma Kudla’s 13th annual Goodu Deepa competition will be held at Kudroli Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Nov 10, Saturday.
Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, coordinator of the program, said at a press conference today that the competition will have 3 categories—traditional, modern, and unique. Gold medals will be awarded to the first and second prize winners of all three categories and 10 consolation prizes will be awarded for each category. Besides, five special prizes will be awarded in each category for the first time.
The participants are required to register on the same day and bring either their prepared goodu deepa or material to prepare one at 4:00 p.m.
Prizes will be given away at the valedictory ceremony, which will be held on the same day at 7:00 p.m.
On the same occasion, the Namma Tuluver Award will be conferred on M. N. Rajendra Kumar, chairman of SCDCC Bank, the Namma Kudla 2011 Award will be conferred on Bannanje Babu Amin, senior folk litterateur; and Bala Prathibe Award will be conferred on Vibha Lakshmi Rai K.
Cultural events will also be held. The entire event will be broadcast live on V4 Channel.
