
Mangaluru, Aug. 18, 2026: Nagara Panchami was celebrated with great religious fervour and devotion at several temples across Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday, with thousands of devotees participating in special rituals and worship dedicated to serpent deities.
At the renowned Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, special ceremonies commenced early in the morning. Following the regular temple rituals, priests performed Abhisheka to the serpent deity. A special Ksheerabhisheka (milk offering) was conducted to Nagaraja at the Naga Prathishta Mantapa located in the temple premises.
The rituals also included Panchamrutha Abhisheka, Seeyala Abhisheka and Jalabhisheka, followed by Maha Mangalarati and distribution of prasadam to devotees. Large numbers of devotees offered milk and tender coconut to the serpent idols as part of their vows and prayers.
Devotees participated in various special sevas including Ashlesha Bali, Panchamrutha Mahabhisheka, Naga Prathishta, Shesha Seva and Karthika Pooja. Long queues of worshippers were seen in the temple premises as they waited to offer prayers and perform rituals.
Similar celebrations were held at the Kudupu Sri Anantha Padmanabha Temple in Mangaluru, where devotees gathered in large numbers to seek the blessings of the serpent deity on the auspicious occasion of Nagara Panchami.
