Mangalore, Oct 24, 2012: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) announced that students can submit membership forms for the NSUI organizational elections for Karnataka before Nov 5.
Addressing the press in the office of the District Congress in Mangalore today, NSUI District President Mohammed Althaf said that members and candidates can submit their membership forms to the district returning officer (DRO) of their respective districts.
Stating that NSUI has units in 10,648 colleges all over India, he said that organizational elections will be held in 22 states after scrutinizing applications. The process gives all students equal opportunities to take up important posts in the NSUI, he added.
Further, he said that students of correspondence courses are not eligible to become members of the NSUI, adding that a college must have at least 25 members to take part in the elections.
He also said that each college committee will have 5 members while the district and state committees will have 15 members each and the national delegate committee will have 4 members.
He also stated that the NSUI has introduced a new model of election, according to which nominations for the posts of president, general secretary, and secretary will be done at the district or state level.
The pradesh returning officers (PRO) are Mohammed Nayeem, Shabir Choudhary,
Ravikanth, Amarnath Reddy, and Charles Parsumam.
