NEET re-exam: 5,570 candidates to appear at 12 centres in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Jun 20, 2026: A total of 5,570 candidates from Dakshina Kannada district have registered for the NEET re-examination scheduled to be held across the country on June 21 for admission to medical courses.

The examination will be conducted at 12 centres across the district, all located within the limits of Mangaluru city. A preparatory meeting in this regard was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Raju K.


NEET exam meeting

Addressing the meeting, Raju directed officials to ensure that the NEET re-examination is conducted in a fair, transparent, and well-organised manner without any lapses. He instructed examination centre heads to ensure adequate seating arrangements for candidates. Two invigilators will be assigned to each examination room. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided screening equipment and the required personnel for candidate verification, he said.

Tight Security; CAPF Deployment

The NEET examination will be conducted under heightened security this year. In addition to local police personnel, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed. A 30-member CAPF team is expected to arrive in Mangaluru for this purpose. Armed local police personnel will also be stationed at every examination centre, Raju said.

The NTA has appointed two nodal officers for the district to supervise the conduct of the examination. Stressing the need for strict monitoring, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that no scope should be left for any irregularities.

Candidates will undergo thorough security checks before entering the examination centres. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, pen drives, earphones, microphones, and Bluetooth devices will not be permitted inside the examination halls. Both candidates and examination staff will be prohibited from using mobile phones or engaging in photography.

The examination will be conducted under CCTV surveillance, and officials have been instructed to ensure that all CCTV systems are functioning properly in advance.

Entry from 11 am


Candidates will be allowed to enter examination centres from 11 am to 1.30 pm on Sunday. The examination will be held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm. Candidates with disabilities will be given an additional one hour to complete the test. Furthermore, all candidates will receive an extra 15 minutes this year, Raju said.

He also directed officials to conduct the examination strictly in accordance with NTA guidelines and ensure coordination among the police, treasury, and other concerned departments for its smooth conduct. Authorities have been asked to monitor crowds outside examination centres and ensure strict adherence to the examination schedule.

The meeting was attended by NEET Nodal Officer and Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal Tek Chand, another nodal officer Jaswinder, District Information Officer Khader Shah, Pre-University Education Department Office Superintendent Nithin Shetty, Police Inspector Gopalakrishna, and other officials.
