NDA Sweeps All Four Karnataka MLC Seats, Congress Draws a Blank

Bengaluru, Oct 28: The BJP-JD(S) alliance has swept all four Karnataka Legislative Council seats for graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies, dealing a major setback to the ruling Congress.

The results, announced on October 27 following polling on October 23, saw the NDA win the Bengaluru Teachers’, North-East Teachers’, West Graduates’ and South-East Graduates’ constituencies, leaving the Congress without a single seat.

JD(S) candidate A.P. Ranganath defeated Congress veteran Puttanna in the Bengaluru Teachers’ constituency by 908 votes. BJP candidates Shashil G. Namoshi, S.V. Sankanur and K.M. Suresh won the other three seats.

The outcome is a setback for the Congress leadership, which had hoped to retain its existing seat and make gains in the elections. The victory is expected to boost the BJP-JD(S) alliance as Karnataka’s political parties prepare for the 2028 Assembly elections.
