Muslim league to demand probe on Wakf funds misuse

Mangalore, Apr 10, 2012: The state unit of the Indian Union Muslim League will submit a memorandum to President Prathibha Patel, in which they will demand an investigation into the misappropriation of funds belonging to Karnataka State Wakf Board. 


Mohammed Ismail, the district general secretary, said at a press meet held on April 9 that law must be enforced to prevent the misappropriation of Wakf funds and assets.

The memorandum also makes an appeal for the release of Wakf funds for the re-construction of mosques, dargahs, and madrassas and for the use of Wakf money to pay compensations to the disabled, the widows, and the senior citizens. It also requests medical assistance for the financially weak.
