Musical evening at Alva’s Virasat makes audience rock on Fourth Day

Mangalore, Jan 10: On the fourth day, Alva’s Virasat 2010 moved away from the world of classical music into the fresh young world of pop music. Sixteen accomplished musicians presented popular numbers that made the audience tap their feet for more than 2 hours in the evening. This programme was titled “Sangeetha Rasa Sanje.” 

A group of TV and movie background singers presented the Sangeetha Rasa Sanje; and Shobha Vana, the venue for Alva’s Virasat 2010, was packed with people, most of them young.

L N Shasthri, a popular singer of filmi numbers, headed the group. The programme commenced with a Kannada number that has become immensely popular all over Karnataka. Ganesh and Divya Raghavan, accomplished movie and television artists, provided the back up for L N Shastri. Accomplished singers such as Ganesh, Anuradha, Ajay Warrier, Divya Raghavan, Shamitha Malnad, Mayuk, Joy Peter, and many others lent their voices.

The special lighting and sound effects set up by the acoustics group greatly added to the charm of the programme. The instrumental music was provided by Voice of Music, a Bangalore-based orchestra, headed by Rajesh M.

Sunday is the last day of Alva’s Virasat. The first programme of the day will be held from 6 – 9:30 p.m. Four musical groups from all over the country will stage their performance. These groups are Prince Dance Group of Orissa, The Langas of Ujjain, Blendz of Kolkata, and Aslam Khan and Group of Jodhpur will present a charming Malkhamb performance. 

The last event of Alva’s Virasat 2010 will be Mahishasura Mardhini, a dance ballet by Puruliya Chhou Dance Group of Puruliya in West Bengal.
