Mulki: Trailer hits mother and daughter waiting for bus; both injured

Mulki, Feb 7, 2026: A mother and her daughter were seriously injured after a trailer rammed into them while they were waiting for a bus by the roadside near Pavanje Devasthana on Friday evening.

The injured have been identified as Kusuma, a teacher, and her 14-year-old daughter Sumalata, police said.

The incident occurred when the two were standing at Pavanje waiting for a bus, when a trailer travelling from Mangaluru towards Udupi hit them. Kusuma sustained serious injuries, while Sumalata suffered minor injuries.

Mangaluru North Traffic Police Inspector Shivakumar visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and took the trailer into custody. An investigation is under way.
