Msgr. Baptist Menezes, former Vicar General of Udupi Diocese no more

Udupi, Aug 23, 2023: Msgr Baptist Menezes who was the former Vicar General of Udupi Diocese passed away on August 23, Wednesday. He was 75 years old.

Fr Baptist hailed from Shirva and was ordained priest of the Diocese of Mangaluru on October 25, 1974. He had served as Assistant Parish Priest at the Most Holy Redeemer Church, Agrar and as Assistant Director at St Antony’s Charitable Institutions Jeppu.

 

He had pursued his doctorate in Moral Theology form the Lateran University in Rome. Later he joined the St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary in Bengaluru and served the institution till 1994. He had also served as Administrator of St Joseph’s Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu, Director of Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, as Episcopal Vicar of Udupi Diocese and later was appointed as first Vicar General of Udupi Diocese in December, 2012.
