Mount Rosary English School hosts state-level chess competition

Udupi, 19, 2012 : The State Level Primary and High School Boys and Girls Chess Competition 2012 – 13 began at Mount Rosary English School in Santhekatte – Kallianpur on Nov 17, Saturday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A grand procession, which began at Ashirwad Junction at 4:30 p.m., marked the beginning of the inauguration ceremony. The procession comprised a large number of students, chende teams, tableaux, huli vesha teams, school band, women holding kalashas, colorful umbrellas, and so on. It reached Mount Rosary Church at 5:30 p.m.

Chief guest K. Jayaprakash Hegde, MP of Udupi – Chikmagalur, inaugurated the event.

Around 680 students from 34 districts are taking part in the chess competition.

Among those present were GP President Sunitha S. Poojary, parish priest Fr. Philip Nery Aranha, Education Department Commissioner S. R. Umashankar, industrialist Madhwaraj, and Mount Rosary English School Headmistress Sr. Adriana Seravo.

The valedictory ceremony will be held on Nov 20, Tuesday.
