Mother Express to arrive in city on December 16

Mangalore, December 9: Residents in the Mangalore city will have a chance to know about the life and work of the missionary social worker Mother Teresa. A special train with photo exhibition on the life of Mother Teresa  to commemorate her birth centenary will be stationed at Mangalore Central Railway station for two days from December 16.

The Indian Railways have, in a special gesture, decided to run an exhibition train named "Mother Express" to commemorate the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, the Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata.


The train will showcase the life and works of the Albanian-born Mother Teresa, who worked tirelessly in the service of the poor, sick, orphaned and destitute in Kolkata and other places for nearly half a century. With four completely air conditioned compartments this train show cases the life and works of mother Teresa. This exhibition train is like a museum with some great and unforgettable pictures of Mother Teresa’s life and work.


Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1980 for her humanitarian work.


This  special exhibition train was flagged of by Railway Minister Ms.Mamta Banarjee on 26th August from Kolkata as a tribute to the Great Mother Teresa. The train is named as Mothers Express.


As the above exhibition train will be very interesting and informative for the public especially for students. The above exhibition train will be at Mangalore Central Railway station on 16th and 17th,     December,  2010. The exhibition will be opened between 10.00 to 20.00 hrs. Admission to the exhibition train is FREE.
