Mother, Daughter Killed in Car–Truck Collision at Byndoor

Byndoor, March 29, 2026: A woman and her teenage daughter were killed in a tragic road accident after their car rammed into a stationary container truck on the national highway at Navunda in Byndoor taluk on Saturday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Mamata (36) and her daughter Dhritika (14), residents of Bengaluru.

According to police, the family was on a leisure trip to the coastal region and was travelling towards Murudeshwar and Gokarna after visiting tourist spots in Udupi district when the mishap occurred.

Four other occupants of the car — Raghu (40), Jahnavi (12), Charvi (10), and Kiran — sustained serious injuries. Raghu, Jahnavi, and Charvi are undergoing treatment at Adarsha Hospital in Kundapur, while Kiran has been shifted to KMC Hospital in Manipal.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled. Locals and passersby rushed to the scene and assisted in rescuing the injured, who were later shifted to nearby hospitals.

A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
