The expo had 58 stalls from various places including Delhi, Maharashtra and Kerala. Of these, 12 stalls were from Karnataka. All the participants in the expo were manufacturers.

One of the products, launched here, was an electronic mosquito-eliminating machine.

Chandrakanth B., Proprietor, RV Surgical Company, at whose stall the product was being showcased, said it was introduced at the expo as malaria is common in the region around Mangalore.

The machine emanates a smell like that of human perspiration, to which the mosquito is attracted and gets killed. There is a collector for trapping dead mosquitoes. He said the smell does not bother people.

Another new product displayed at the expo was a needle-cutter. Once a needle is used, it is cut by the machine and then disposed so that it cannot be re-used, said Vishvesh Ahluwalia, Director, A.R. V. S. Equipments Pvt Ltd.

Raghavendra Udupa V., Sales and Support Engineer, of a new Udupi-based company, Robosoft Technologies Pvt Ltd., demonstrated a software that allows doctors to track all details of a patient on a tablet. He also showed a software the company has developed for use in fertility clinics.

Other products included biodegradable bed sheets and automated hospital beds for use during labour and in the intensive care units (ICU). There were also surgery kits for specific surgeries. The kits were customised to match specific surgeries. The expo is on till Wednesday.
