
Mangalore, Dec 13, 2012: The mortal remains of late Archbishop and Papal Envoy to Ivory Coast Most Rev.Dr Ambrose Madtha, who passed away in a road accident recently, will be brought to Mangalore on December 14, Friday at around 10 am, after all the Vatican procedures are complete, informed Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.
Speaking to reporters at the Bishop House in Mangalore on December 13, Thursday, he said the mortal remains will be brought by a special flight of the President of Ivory Coast Alassane Quattara in a special casket with zinc plating and with a glass window through which the public can have a view of Fr Madtha. Later a special mass will be held for the repose of the late Archbishop at Rosario Cathedral at 4 pm, the Bishop informed.


The Bishop said that the funeral of Most Rev Dr Ambrose Madtha who was the Papal Nuncio to Ivory Coast will be held at 10am on Dec 15, Saturday at Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady, in his native parish.
Rev Fr Denis Moras Prabhu,Vicar General said that the mortal remains will be accompanied by eleven high profile officials of the State of Ivory Coast. The delegation will be led by SE Sign. Charles Koffi Biby, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ivory Coast. The Nuncio of India Most Rev Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio will arrive in Mangalore on Dec 13, Thursday, he informed.
The delegation will include S.E. Sig. ra Anne Desiree Ouloto, Minister of Social Affairs of Ivory Coast, Most Rev Dr Alexis Touabli Youlo, the President of Episcopal conference of Ivory Coast, Most Rev Dr Jean Pierre Kutwa, the Archbishop of Abidjan, Most Rev Dr Antonine Kone, Bishop of Vescovo where the ordination was held.
Most Rev Dr Benjamin Bony, a protestant Bishop from Ivory Coast, Imam Dossi, a Muslim leader of Ivory Coast, Rev Laurent Akomiam, the Parish Priest of Abidjan, Sister Georges Amarie Ette, representative of religious of Ivory Coast, Janette Thure, a lay catholic women leader and Eba Martial, a Catholic male leader will also be present. Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, will guide the local arrangements of the funeral.
The Pope Benedict 16th has already sent condolence message to the family members of late Archbishop Ambrose Madtha.
