More hawala cash flowing into Kasargod?

Kasargod, Sept 11, 2013: There is information that  cash worth over Rs 5 crore has made way into the state of Kerala through hawala transactions particularly after the value of rupee started depreciating against the dollar.

Sources reveal that most of the time the cash is easily transported in public modes of transport like trains and buses and even private  vehicles. Mostly the cash flows in from the Gulf and is brought by some agents who arrive by flights.

As much as Rs one crore hawala money had been seized  in Kasargod district during the last one month period. More recently Rs 66 lakhs was seized from a man who arrived in the town from Mumbai.

It is said the hawala agents wait for the men who arrive with cash in buses from Mumbai. It is learnt these men get commission for the purpose. Sometimes even fake note make inroads thus and police say they have even found  fake note of R s 500 in the Rs 66 lakh seized recently.

There is also information that fake currency is circulated by keeping it along with hawala cash.
