Moral policing in Vittal : Group vandalizes textile shop

Vittal, Sep 12, 2013 : In a case of moral policing reported from Vittal, a group of men  barged into a  textile shop at the Empire Mahal in the town, thrashed the owner and then robbed   valuables worth lakhs of rupees on September 11, Wednesday.

All this on the  pretext that the  shopkeeper had misbehaved with a sales girl. The assailants included  the relatives of the sales girl and some locals.

The shop owner Hanuman (26) of Rajasthan origin, has been admitted to  Vittal Government Hospital and has lodged a complaint alleging that the assailants had  vandalized his shop, damaged the computer and  robbed  his golden ring, chain and a cash of Rs 80,000.

The Mahalakshmi Showroom   has been functioning at Empire Mahal since two years and has around five to six sales girls. The assailants alleged that on Wednesday when other sales girls had gone out for lunch, the shop owner Hanuman had tried to make advances towards the young sales girl who was in the shop.

In another twist to the case, the sales girl has said  the shop keeper has not harassed her. The victim in his complaint has said the raid by some vigilante elements aimed at looting his shop. A large crowd had gathered outside the shop following the incident.
