Mangalore, Nov 11, 2011: The Mangalore city police have successfully arrested 3 men involved in the murder of 2 rowdy sheeters at Moodushedde on the outskirts of the city within just a few hours after the murder today.
The deceased are Murugesh and Upendra, who were allegedly involved in the 2009 murder case of notorious rowdy Vamanjoor Rohi.
The two were killed with sickles near Shivanagara Devi Temple, Moodushedde at around 1:30 p.m.
The police began investigating the case immediately and arrested Gopal, Raghu, and Faizal within a few hours of the murder.
Revealing details of the arrest, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the motive for the crime is suspected to be rivalry between two gangs. The murdered had gotten together with the arrested back in 2002 to murder Nagesh Poojary in Pilikula, but later, differences of opinion arose within the gang and it split into two. However, the police cannot confirm the motive right now, admitted the police commissioner.
He stated that the police have collected the evidence related to the case and have arrested the accused. The police are going to make some more arrests soon, he added and expressed confidence that all those involved in the case will soon be nabbed.
Murugesh died on the spot, but Upendra died when he was being taken to the hospital.
