Moodbidri TMC turns blind eye to illegal mobile towers

 Moodbidri, Mar 30, 2014: An RTI query  to the Moodbidri Town Municipal Council has revealed that most of the mobile towers operating in the town are illegal  except one tower at Alangar.

Though as per rules, permission of the TMC is mandatory before setting up of mobile towers, rules are given a go by very easily and towers have come up at several places including rooftops of buildings.  These illegal towers have in turn incurred losses to the TMC in terms of revenue.

Ironically, the TMC despite knowing that the towers have come up illegally has chosen to turn a blind eye towards them.

As per the guidelines of the Department of Telecommunications,  companies have to first furnish all information to the local administration and  state government and must also produce the registration  certificate before going in for  construction of towers.
