Moodbidri, Mar 17, 2026: Allegations of sexual harassment have been made against Moodbidri Police Station Inspector Sandesh B.G.
Three women have submitted a complaint in Bengaluru seeking a high-level investigation into the matter. The complaint has been addressed to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Director General of Police (DGP), the Chief Secretary of the government, and the State Women’s Commission.
According to the complaint, about two years ago the husband of one of the women was arrested in a case. The inspector allegedly pressured her, saying that if she wanted her husband to be released, she would have to provide sexual favours. He also allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh and threatened to open a “rowdy sheet” against her husband.
The complainant further alleged that the inspector would enter her house at night by jumping over the compound wall, hold and drag her by the hand, and force her to dance. It was also stated that he had behaved in a similar manner earlier when he was posted at the Belthangady Police Station. The complaint claims that women who visited the police station for passport verification and other official work were also subjected to harassment, but many victims hesitated to file complaints.
The complainants said that although a complaint had earlier been submitted to the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, no action was taken. They expressed doubts about a fair investigation by the Mangaluru police and demanded that the case be handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or the CID, and that the officer be kept away from duty during the probe.
Following the allegations, a departmental inquiry has been initiated. Responding to the issue, DCP Mithun said that an investigation has begun under the leadership of the ACP of the North Division and further action will be taken after the report is submitted.
Meanwhile, the State Women’s Commission has written to Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, stating that it is a serious matter if a government official responsible for protecting women is involved in such acts. The commission has directed that the case be examined as per rules, disciplinary action be taken, and a report be submitted.
