Moodbidri: Moving car catches fire; passengers escape unhurt

Moodbidri, Jun 23, 2026: A car was completely gutted in a fire that reportedly originated from its fog light while the vehicle was in motion in Moodbidri. Fortunately, all the occupants escaped without injury.

The car had recently been purchased by Masood of Kotekar from Avinash, a resident of Moodumarnadu. The incident occurred while Masood was travelling to Moodbidri with his family.

As the vehicle reached near the old municipal building, the occupants noticed smoke emanating from the car. They immediately stopped the vehicle and safely evacuated the women and children. Within moments, the car was engulfed in flames.

Upon receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of local residents, brought the blaze under control.

Moodbidri police also visited the scene and conducted an inspection.
