Moodbidri: Man detained after bus harassment video goes viral; police urge victims to come forward

Moodbidri, Aug 15, 2025: A video showing a man misbehaving with a young woman on a private bus has gone viral on social media. Moodbidri Police Inspector Sandesh P.G. has issued a public appeal urging the victim or anyone else harassed by the accused to directly approach the Moodbidri police station and lodge a complaint.

The viral video, recorded recently, shows an elderly man behaving inappropriately with a young woman on a private bus. During investigation, police identified the accused as Rehman (60), a vegetable shop worker from Anekere, Karkala, and a resident of Kariyanangadi Kukkadellu in Beluvai.

Since the young woman’s face is not clearly visible in the video, she has not yet been identified. When questioned, Rehman claimed he did not know the victim either. Police have therefore requested the victim or anyone else who may have been harassed by him to come forward so that appropriate legal action can be taken.

According to reports, the accused sells vegetables in and around Ajekar and Anekere and is allegedly in the habit of harassing young women. It is also claimed that he has engaged in similar behaviour in the past.
