Moodbidri, Apr 13, 2026: Police foiled an attempt to illegally transport cattle in a cruel manner near Todaru on Sunday, rescuing eight animals and seizing two vehicles involved in the operation.
According to reports, PSI Prathibha K C of the Moodbidri police station was on patrol duty with her team when they received information about cattle being transported illegally in a pickup vehicle towards Todaru. Acting on the tip-off, police signalled a WagonR car coming from the Garadi side, along with a pickup vehicle following it, to stop at the entrance of Todaru village. However, both vehicles ignored the signal and continued moving, prompting the police to chase and intercept them.

The driver of the pickup vehicle, identified as Harshad, along with others, fled the scene. The occupants of the WagonR car, which was escorting the pickup vehicle—identified as Safar and Abubakar, a resident of Handele—also escaped.
Upon inspection, police found two cows, two bulls, and four male calves tied tightly with ropes around their legs and heads, being transported in a cruel and inhumane manner.
