Moodbidri, May 18, 2026: An unidentified body was found in a highly decomposed state inside an abandoned house in the Madadangadi area under the Valpadi Gram Panchayat limits here, creating panic among local residents.
It is suspected that the man may have died three to four days ago, as a strong foul smell was emanating from the body. The incident came to light when local residents were searching the surroundings for a missing dog from a neighbouring house, suspecting that it might have died somewhere nearby. During the search, they discovered the human body inside the deserted house.
The deceased is suspected to be a man from Kerala, locally known as ‘Cheta’. He was reportedly engaged in small-time labour work in the area. Locals said he was known to consume alcohol regularly in the evenings and sleep wherever he found space. It is suspected that he may have entered the abandoned house in a similar condition and died there.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Moodbidri Police Sub-Inspector Pratibha and her team visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have registered a case and begun further investigation.
