Moodbidri: Body of man found in Hosanagady river; suicide suspected

Moodbidri, December 25, 2025: The body of a man who is suspected to have died by suicide after jumping into the Hosanagady river was recovered near Nettodi on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Latheesh Poojary (42), a resident of Miyar village in Karkala taluk. He is survived by his wife and two children.

According to sources, Latheesh had been working abroad and had returned to his native place recently. He later went to Hosanagady, where his wife’s family resides. It is learnt that a domestic dispute reportedly took place on Sunday over an undisclosed issue.

Sources said that Latheesh had sent a message to his elder brother in Miyar, expressing his distress. His brother is said to have counselled him, advising against taking any hasty decision. However, it is suspected that Latheesh, troubled by family-related issues, later jumped into the river.

Venoore police visited the spot, registered a case and have launched an investigation into the incident.
