Monappa Bhandary elected MLC

Mangalore, July 14, 2012: Monappa Bhandary, former president of the district unit of the Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) has been elected as the member of the state legislative council (MLC).

 

 

The election for this seat, which became vacant when Dr. V. S. Acharya, former minister, breathed his last, was scheduled for July 25. Since no JD(S) and Congress candidate contested for the post, Monappa Bhandary was elected MLC till 2014.

Monappa Bhandary had long wanted to get into the legislative council, but the BJP had favored Kota Shrinivas Poojary. He had contested in 2003, but had lost.
