Mokshit and Sahana Shetty win silver at international Karate Championship

Bantwal, Mar 1, 2012 : Mokshit M. Shetty of Std. VIII at Gunashree English Medium High School in Siddakatte and his sister Sahana M. Shetty of Std. V at Buruz English Medium School in Raza Nagar in Irvattoor have won silver in the International Karate Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The two now hope to win gold in the International Karate Championship, which will be held in Kathmandu in May 2012.

Mokshit also won the district-level karate championship held in Moodubidri in Nov 12, 2011 and the third place in the state seventh open karate championship in Moodubidri on Dec 17 – 18, 2011. He won the second place in the national open karate championship held in Kinnigoli on Jan 6 – 8, 2012 and the first place in the national sixth Western Open Karate Championship held in Bondel on Feb 11 – 12, 2012.


Sahana won the first place in the district-level karate championship held in Moodubidri on Nov 11, 2011, the third place in the state seventh open Karate Championship held in Moodubidri on Dec 17 – 18, 2011, and the second place in the national open karate championship held in Kinnigoli from Jan 6 – 8. Sahana is also a Bharathnatyam dancer and a topper in the state general knowledge exam and international ABACUS.


Mokshit and Sahana are children of N. Mohan, a contractor, and Harinakshi M. Shetty of Narvaldadka in Mudupadukodi. Their coaches are Sarfaraz and Nadeem. The young achievers have already been honored by several organizations.
